Taken From Granite Cabernet Sauvignon Village 1999
A library release from the once-secretive Renaissance Vineyard in California's Sierra Foothills, made by Gideon Beinstock (now of Clos Saron) from ungrafted vines planted on rocky granitic soil in the late 1970s. These bottles never left the winery and have aged slowly and steadily for over two decades. Expect a mature, savory glass with dusty red and black fruit, iron and gravel minerality, dried herbs and tobacco, and a long, earthy finish. Decant before serving to clear the natural sediment this wine throws with age.
