Winemaker Salvatore Giardina is well known in his town of Randazzo, Sicily, as the owner of one of the best wine bars and restaurants in the area. Salvatore’s relationship with wine led him to produce his own tiny label, driven by admiration of what are locally called 'peasant techniques.' It's a reference to a less invasive way of growing wine, avoiding much but manual labor. This is only the second vintage of this wine imported into the US, and the production is teeny tiny: only 800 bottles produced, from 70 to 75 year-old Grenache (called Alicante in Italian) vines set in the Randazzo village which stands at 1000 meters (over 3,000 feet) elevation. If you're an Etna person, you must try this impossible-to-find, handmade beauty.

Deep, full of fruity and herbaceous notes mixed with hints of spices and minerals. In the mouth it's velvety and satisfying with tannins that are well present but made lovable thanks to a splendid sapidity. Wow!!!
