2025 Prà 'Otto' Soave Classico Garganega, Veneto, Italy

A bright, easy-drinking Soave from Graziano Prà, made from 30 to 60 year old Garganega vines on the volcanic basalt hills around Monteforte d’Alpone. It shows hawthorn, jasmine and white flowers, with lemon peel, green apple, peach and apricot, plus a smoky, flinty hint from the volcanic soils. The palate is light to medium-bodied, dry and linear, with lively acidity, a saline mineral thread and a touch of bitter almond on the finish. It was fermented and aged in stainless steel on its lees, so there’s no oak. Serve it cold.
