Leipold’s Bacchus Kabinett Trocken is so German it’s cute. Sometimes simplicity with a wine, not trying to masquerade or follow fads, is what’s called for – a certain honesty and rusticity so omnipresent it can be soul stirring. Firmly dry, with flashes of melons and cut wet grass and some greener anise on the nose, the wine reads decidedly light on the palate and refreshing with its clean and no-makeup body.

Here we have *just* the right amount of Bacchus with a nervy undercurrent to clean everything up and leave it refreshing.

One sip and the wine takes you to the old villages of Franconia, stone-walled and red-roofed. Isn’t this what wine is all about? A place, a time and a culture distilled into liquid form?
