Weingut Brand is a fifth-generation family winery in Bockenheim, in Germany's Pfalz region, run by brothers Daniel and Jonas Brand. Their father was an early advocate for organic farming, and Daniel brought that approach fully into the winery in 2014, with the estate certified organic since 2018. They've also started incorporating some biodynamic practices. The "Pur" series is their no-sulfur line, and the labels are hand-drawn by the brothers' grandmother.
Wilder Satz is a field blend made from most of the white grapes the brothers grow mainly Müller-Thurgau, along with Riesling, Kerner, Silvaner, Chardonnay, and Pinot Blanc, among others. Each variety is picked and vinified separately, some foot-stomped and macerated on the skins, some pressed directly, before all the lots are blended together shortly before bottling. It's fermented with wild yeast and bottled unfiltered and unfined, without added sulfur.
