Vetter Müller Thurgau "Steinterrassen"
Vetter’s “1er Cru” Müller-Thurgau “Steinterrassen” is sourced from older vines of Müller up and within the stone terraces. It is a very real step up from the regular Müller-Thurgau: the nose is herbal and grassy, hay-like, with delicate wisps of camphor and incense. The wine is exceedingly light (bone dry and only 9.5%) and has the quality of drinking early morning light, or dew, or both. This is morning mist, bottled.
Vetter’s technique is worth noting, as it’s unique. The grapes are whole-cluster pressed without any maceration or crushing and put directly into old/neutral barrels. The wine is topped up while in barrel, but not sulfured. The wines are normally racked only once and then bottled unfined and unfiltered with lower SO2.
