The bottle
PMV stands for Positive Mental Vibes, and it drinks exactly like that sounds. Tart red fruit, a lick of earth and herbs, feathery tannins and only 11 percent alcohol. Field blend fruit from the steep terraces around Winningen, about two weeks on skins, then split between stainless steel and neutral French oak. Chill it down and treat it like a Beaujolais.

The producer
Madame Flock is Robert Kane and Derek Labelle, who bought their first vineyard from a woman named Flock and kept her name on the label. They work the forgotten steep terraces of the Lower Mosel, some of it ungrafted and very old, all dry-grown, herbicide-free and hand-tended because no machine can get up there. In the cellar: wild ferments, no additives, nothing added or taken away.
