The 2018 Saumur Blanc Argile from Château du Hureau is really a lovely wine, with the ripeness of the vintage playing off lovely against an excellent blade of terroir. The bouquet wafts from the glass in a bright and quite wide open blend of sweet grapefruit, quince, a touch of orange peel, lovely, chalky soil tones, and a delicate floral top note of white flowers. On the palate, the wine is crisp, full-bodied, and rock-solid at the core, with good framing acids, very good focus and grip, and a long, zesty finish.
