The Clos des Fraisiers is a site within L'Etoile proper (but must be labeled Cotes du Jura in red wine since the L'Etoile appellation is only for white wine), and its limestone-rich soils yield a Poulsard of elegance, precision, and complexity. Montbourgeau owns a parcel of 60-year-old vines here which have never been sprayed with chemicals; they ferment it spontaneously with 50% whole clusters, and age it for a year in well-used 228-liter barrels, sulfuring it minimally and only after malolactic fermentation. 

The 2023 bursts forth with gooey strawberries and dusty cherries, offering a gently funky mineral-savory interplay which keeps drawing the drinker back into the glass for more.
