Airy vineyard in the Shenandoah Valley. The wine is approximately 75% Chambourcin and 25% Chardonel from two blocks on opposite sides of the same hill. One block consists of interplanted Chardonel and Chambourcin; the other block consists solely of Chambourcin. All the fruit is picked the same day and cofermented. The vineyard is owned and managed by Tim Jordan (Star Party, Commonwealth Crush, Midland) who farms it with the goal of supporting as much biodiversity as possible, even though this typically means very small yields. The wine has complex, intense berry character with an herbal edge.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWinemaking: Grapes rested overnight in a half ton MacroBin, allowing the smallest amount of very gentle maceration. The morning after harvest, the fruit was whole cluster pressed, then fermented and aged in neutral French oak on its full fermentation lees with lees stirring every other week. Racked a week before bottling in May of 2024.
