It is so close to spring we can almost taste it...but until it comes (and stays!), let's drink bubbles and local wines from Long Island!
Jousset "Bubulle" Montlouis sur Loire 2009: Any of you who have come in over the years know that I have a special place in my heart for Shannon--or Chenin Blanc as she is more commonly known--and this fabulous all Chenin bottling is zero dosage, floral and yellow fruits on the nose, fine bubbles...it's a dream and I'm very excited to be pouring it. (organic, 22.99)
Shinn Estates "Coalescence" White Blend, North Fork Long Island 2010: Practicing organic, local, and delicious? We're happy to have some of the Shinn portfolio back in the store. This white is made from Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot Blanc and Pinot Noir Blanc. Crazy, right? The end result is a medium bodied wine with mossy, wet grass-y notes balanced by classic Long Island minerals and great fruit. It's almost earthy. (13.99, organic)
