When we opened in September 2004, our goal was to create the best neighborhood store in Nolita New York: which means having a majority of affordable wins under $20. And selections from the greatest estates from around the world.

Everyday our job is to taste wine for you and only keep what we think is delicious. we reject three time as many wines and the ones we keep. We also offer wines off the beaten path. so you won't see Yellowtail and other commercial brands here: only small producers dedicating their souls to vineyards and organic wines.

We already live in a world of homogenized tastes for many of the products that we regularly buy. Wine is starting to become uniformed and over-produced, like sodas with chemicals to enhance a certain taste for mass appeal. Our philosophy is to select from vineyards that promote what the French call 'terroir', a group of vineyards (or even vines) from the same region that share the same soil, climate, grapes and wine making savoir-faire, which give each wine its specific character.
